STEAM
Last Christmas Shireen's Dad bought a new ATI 9800 XT video card and he gave me the "Free Half-Life 2" coupon that was in the box. Now, almost a year later, the game is finally going to be released. I could have used the coupon to send away for a retail CD, but I chose to sign up for STEAM, the on-line game service that serves all of Valve's games. When I put in the coupon activation code not only did I get Half-Life 2, I got access to the following games:
Counter Strike: Source
Half-Life (the original)
Counter-Strike
Team Fortress Classic
Deathmatch Classic
Opposing Force
Ricochet
Day of Defeat
Codename Gordon
Most of these games are way old - and it shows, but they are still kind of fun to play. Half-Life 2 won't be "activated" until Nov. 16, but all the content has been pre-downloaded so I can play as soon as it's released.
