What you have to go through just to get reimbursed
I, Trevor Burgan, respectfully request reimbursement in the amount of twelve (12) dollars for expenses incurred providing refreshments for the Southern California Govt. GIS User Group meeting for which the City of Santa Ana graciously acted as host city on Tuesday the Fourteenth of September at Nine o' Clock Ante Meridian.
The twelve (12) dollars was used to acquire one (1) dozen hot original glazed yeast-raised doughnuts and an additional one (1) dozen doughnuts of an assorted variety. This variety of doughnuts included several doughnuts of the cream filled variety, several doughnuts of the "old fashioned" variety and several doughnuts with various glazes and/or sprinkles.
During the transaction in which the doughnuts were to be paid for with the said twelve dollars, the machine used to collect the funds and provide a record of the transaction temporarily malfunctioned. The employee of the establishment at which I was purchasing these refreshments, offered their apologies for the malfunction and inquired if I would like to wait until the malfunction was repaired so I could obtain my receipt of purchase. Not knowing how long it would take to repair the malfunction, I declined to wait, which is the reason I do not possess a receipt of purchase for the refreshments. Please take this into account when you review my request for reimbursement.
